Engineer, owner, builder.

I'm a software engineer with 20+ years of experience delivering distributed systems, high-volume APIs and mission-critical platforms. Today I own the compliance and reputation domain of a high-volume email platform end to end, and I build with the rigor that comes with it: observability, kill switches and fail-closed defaults.

Outside work I run AgeeBgee Solutions, where I design, build, deploy and support four Azure-native products on my own. It keeps me honest about the full lifecycle, from architecture and infrastructure as code to billing and the support inbox.

I'm looking for a staff-level role, remote or hybrid in the Tampa Bay area, where I can set technical direction and ship systems that other engineers enjoy operating.

Experience

1. Senior Software Engineer at ActiveCampaign

   Sep 2021 – Present · Remote

   • Own the compliance and reputation domain of a high-volume transactional email platform end to end: architecture, technical direction and production operations.
   • Architected and shipped an AI-driven account-approval platform that now makes every new-account decision autonomously at sub-second latency, with canary rollout, kill switches and fail-closed handling.
   • Conceived and led an event-driven trust and deliverability platform on Kafka and SQS. A five-person cross-functional team won a company-wide innovation challenge.
   • Scaled a core delivery-data service by an order of magnitude, avoiding a new search-cluster dependency.
   • Redesigned a compliance processing path around bounded channels and backpressure so it never blocks the email-send hot path.
   • Led a cross-service security rollout and a platform-wide .NET migration. Prolific author and reviewer across dozens of services, and mentor to peers.

2. Systems Integration Analyst at Geographic Solutions, Inc.

   Dec 2020 – Sep 2021 · Palm Harbor, FL

   • Designed and delivered ETL pipelines and integration interfaces connecting client legacy systems to a workforce management platform for the labor-market and job-services industry.
   • Authored advanced SQL, stored procedures, cursors and triggers for multi-source data transformations, and optimized existing queries for measurable performance gains.
   • Wrote programming specifications with business stakeholders and subject-matter experts, and managed change requests end to end.

3. Senior Software Analyst at Systems Advantage, Inc.

   Jul 2002 – Nov 2020 · Indianapolis, IN

   • Led software engineering on an 18-year contract for the Minnesota Department of Vehicle Safety (MNLARS), a large state system modernization.
   • Co-architected ETL optimizations that delivered roughly 300% higher throughput on critical state data.
   • Built REST interfaces bridging modern systems to mainframe infrastructure (MVS/XA, CICS, COBOL, IMS, VSAM, DB2).
   • Solved a long-stuck legacy data migration with a regex-based approach for free-form text fields.
